The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pressed up the rate of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.
In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing rewarding too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
